Teaching Philosopy and Professional Goals
Math: I believe math should be taught in both large and small groups. Math needs to be hands-on, taught with several strategies, and applicable to real-world situations. I believe math needs constant practice and review, as well as homework that reinforces previous lessons. Math encourages and requires critical thinking, problem solving and logical thinking skills- traits that are carried on and build upon throughout life. Math can be fun at all levels, and I like to have fun in my class!
Professional Goal Statement: One of my short-term goals is to find a teaching position that will place me with individuals who have a collaborative working style and a working knowledge of curriculum and instruction. As part of a team, I want to add value and gain expertise in effective teaching practices. Another one of my goals is to be the best role model and positive influence I can be in my students life. As educators, we know our lessons go way beyond academics. Those little eyes are always watching and they need us to be models and to help guide them through each stage of their child and adolescent lives. My long-term goal is to continue my own education through workshops and conferences for professional growth. With these experiences, I will enhance the academic growth of students in a positive and learning environment so that they may acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed for today’s society
